Let's Talk About It.

We are thrilled to announce that our guest on the first episode of Let's Talk About It is David Hemmings - local historian and writer who has breathed amazing life into the story of Laura Secord in his book  Laura Ingersoll Secord ~ A Heroine and her Family.

We can't wait to discuss not only his book, but also to hear about details of upcoming events planned around the bicentennial of Laura's historic walk to DeCew house.

Our review of David's book will be posted shortly, as well as details of where you can purchase it in the area.  We hope you will read it too, and post your own review and comments here.

You're crazy, you know that right?...

It was a very cold, rainy Tuesday night and I had invited Jacquie and Mary to go to a meeting with me.  It was a meeting of the Canadian Federation of University Women, and they had both become members the previous month.  This was their second meeting, while I had been a member for a little over a year.

As usual, there was a guest speaker this evening and one of the subjects was local media.  It was pretty interesting.  We didn't stay long after the talk was done, but instead hurried out to my car - at least it had stopped raining.  As we walked, the wheels were turning in my head.

Just as I was clicking the remote access to unlock the doors I said, "You know what we need to do?  It's brilliant!".  Mary looked interested.  Jacquie, who has known me for much longer, looked a little scared.

And so, with a little convincing of Mary and Jacquie, and a few discussions with the programming director of Cogeco Cable TV, we are about to shoot our pilot episode for a new local talk show called "Let's Talk About It".

We will be talking about local issues, there will be guests and hopefully a lot of fun too.

We will also be discussing books.  Every four weeks or so, we will annouce a book that we will all be reading, and then post our reviews here.  We welcome our audience to read it too, and post their own reviews on this site as well.

Six days and counting to filming.  Feeling very excited, and a little nervous!  Stay tuned for updates!
