Let's Talk About It

Nancy...

I moved to the area when I was ten years old and have been a Niagara resident ever since.  I attended Brock University where I received my B.A.   After graduating I married my high school Sweetheart and we made our home in St Catharines where we have raised two children and recently adopted a "rescue" dog, Rascal...and yes he is!

For the past several years I have worked in the field of accounting and five years ago (seems more like twenty) I decided to pursue my CGA designation.  I am not quite there yet, but at least I can see a light at the end of the tunnel.

Jacquie and I met almost 18 years ago when I taught a preschool program at the YMCA and her daughter and my son became fast friends.  By total Serendipity, we both moved to the same neighbourhood a year later and our families have been close ever since.   In October 2010 I took a job with The Mentholatum Company of Canada, Ltd. as Financial Accounting Supervisor, which of course is where I met and became friends with Mary.

In my spare time I too work with Migrant Workers, I am a member of the Canadian Federation of University Women, and I always seem to be taking a course!  I also like to hang out with my family, take Rascal for long walks in Short Hills and recently pledged to run a 5K race in May (what was I thinking?)

Books are like old friends; I can never seem to give them away.  Some of my favourite writers are Kathy Reichs, Will Ferguson, Jane Austin, Anne Rice and of course, Agatha Christie and I go way back!

Most recently read book club selection:  The Dovekeepers by Alice Hoffman.

I know both Jacquie and Mary thought I was joking when I first mentioned a Talk Show, and I would like to take a moment to thank them both for not writing me off as completely crazy when I wouldn't let the idea go!  I would also like to thank another co-worker Helene, for letting me talk her into being one of our Camera crew.

Finally, I would like to thank my husband for putting up with me.  He told me once that it really isn't easy being in love with me.  I think I get it now.  : )

Getting to Know Jacquie...

Jacquie was born in Ponoka, Alberta and has two sisters. She attended Olds College, majoring in Commercial Floriculture and it was there that she met her future husband.  As Jacquie likes to say, they drove from Alberta to Niagara under horrible conditions and didn't want to kill each other at the end of it, so they figured it was meant to be!  Twenty-five years and one daughter later, it seems they were right!

Jacquie is the owner of Petals by Jacquie - Unique Personalized Gifts.

In her "spare" time, and besides co-hosting Let's Talk About It, Jacquie also works with Migrant Workers, belongs to a book club and enjoys walking, biking, yoga, cooking and entertaining friends.

An avid reader, some of Jacquie's favourite writers are Sandra Brown, Janet Evanovich and Christopher Moore.

All About Mary...

Mary was born and raised in St. Catharines - the second youngest of thirteen children.  After graduating from Durham College with a degree in Food and Drug Technology,  Mary worked as a Quality Control Technician for Sandra Tea and Coffee before taking a job with The Republic of Tea and moving to Nashville, Illinois.

Mary worked as the Minister of Quality and Tea Taster for the Republic of Tea for eleven years, but eventually home called her back to the Niagara region.

Mary now lives in St Catharines once more with her daughter, her dog Oscar and a cat that seems to have moved in without her noticing!

When she's not busy at home, or at work as Regulatory and Quality Control Supervisor for The Mentholatum Company of Canada, Ltd., or of course co-hosting Let's Talk About It - Mary also works with Girl Guides of Canada, Migrant Workers and is active in her church.

Some of Mary's favourite books are the Anne of Green Gables series, The Little House on the Prairie series and The Twilight Saga.
