Let's Talk About It.

We are thrilled to announce that our guest on the first episode of Let's Talk About It is David Hemmings - local historian and writer who has breathed amazing life into the story of Laura Secord in his book  Laura Ingersoll Secord ~ A Heroine and her Family.

We can't wait to discuss not only his book, but also to hear about details of upcoming events planned around the bicentennial of Laura's historic walk to DeCew house.

Our review of David's book will be posted shortly, as well as details of where you can purchase it in the area.  We hope you will read it too, and post your own review and comments here.

A number of 'video vignettes' about the War of 1812 and Laura Secord have been posted on YouTube in recent months by Toronto producer / host Anne Martin (see links from http://www.ontopoftheworld.net/category/1812-and-all-that/ , notably Part 2 - the Story of Laura Secord). Apparently most of the 1812 material was created for a series of longer documentaries made for the Canada 125 celebrations, but has been re-purposed for the upcoming bicentennial celebrations.

Thank you for that information. I've checked some of them out and it was really interesting!
